A survey released by the AA suggests that one in three of all killed drivers were not wearing seat belts.  Over three hundred lives could be saved if everyone wore seat belts.

The evidence suggests that the sort of driver who chooses not to wear a belt is twice as likely to be involved in a crash as one who does wear a belt.

Drivers who are most likely not to wear seat belts are

  • Men (especially young men)
  • Rear seat passengers
  • Company drivers
