Winter driving risk LED traffic lights
filed in Driving Skills on Jan.12, 2010
LED traffic lights are great for local authorities as they are more efficient and do not need to be changed as regually – saving them money. However a down side has been show as the report in a recent CTV News report.

LED traffic lights do not warm up like normal traffic light bulbs, meaning that snow and ice does not melt like it would normally, this has had fatal consequences on the road in Canada.
This is an example of how drivers should be more aware during wintery condtions and take note when traffic lights may not be working. Only yesterday I saw a Taxi driver in Stoke on Trent go through a red light whilst taking a phone call, fortunately no one was hurt.
