Stafford has new bypass proposals
filed in Stafford Driving on Jan.12, 2010
Stafford is a congested town, particularly when their are incidents on the M6, this has lead to proposals by the council for a new bypass. It is set to make the journey from the A34 North of the town, to the A518 South of Stafford Easier towards Telford and Haughton.

Proposals are made clear in this Staffordshire County Council Website.
Due to the congestion around the A34 towards A518 this could ease congestion, and potentially make the town much safer as it diverts traffic away from the mass of pedestrians in town. Having said that, it will have an impact on the Castlefields housing estate it is set to run through, onto a busy roundabout where traffic often turns full circle due local school traffic from Blessed William Howard.
This may also affect the traffic near the DSA Driving Test Centre, as it is set to run very near.
