For Quality Driving Instructor Training in Staffordshire, you have come to the right place, our aim is to guide you through each step of the way. There are three exams to pass in order to become an instructor.

A "Starter" pack from the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) with CRB (Criminal Record Bureau) checks, and registration to start your training. Packs are available from the DSA or apply online
  • Part 1 Theory
This is a critical step in the process of becoming an instructor, this is 50% self study and 50% on road training to understand the theory of driving, the road and teaching a student to drive. National statistics say only 49% of all applicants pass this exam.
  • Part 2 Practical Driving Test
A high standard of practical driving test, training is almost certainly necessary. There are a MAXIMUM of three attempts available and then there is a wait of two years and a retake of Part 1, before you can reapply! This training is delivered with Part 3 in mind - making the next stage easier. Passing this stage should show understanding of the driving task, safe attitudes and as a president of good driving to other drivers. This is an advanced standard, it is recommended advanced tests are taken at this stage. National Statistics say 45% of all applicants pass this examination.
  • PDI (Potential Driving Instructor) Licence
Also known as a "Pink" licence, after a required time training it is possible to have a provisional instruction licence to be paid to teach for six months, giving a great opportunity to develop your skills and a great taster to the real thing.
  • Part 3 Practical Instructional Test
Part 3 is all about great teaching with a structure, using core competencies and a good level of instruction. Understanding this is where the training will start, development of guided, prompted, question and answers, and independent techniques. This is known as a "Green Licence". In simple terms a role play, where the examiner role plays a student are your task is to successfully teach a set lesson (Pre Set Test or PST) This is where most struggle, so without proper training forget it! There are a MAXIMUM of three attempts available and then there is a wait of two years and a retake of Part 1, before you can reapply! Only 45% all of applicants pass this examination - the reason usually is lack of training or poor training. Understanding the exam is easy; this is the key to been successful! The rest is just hard work and practice. After passing all of these exams you can legally teach people to drive for money.

I am already doing my driving instructor training with someone else and would like additional training.

This is more common than you may think. There are many aspects of all parts of the DSA Instructional tests that trainers often could improve upon. We will quickly identify those and guide you through the process. If you have failed a Part 3 test for example, and do not know why, it is very likely your training did not cover important aspects of how the test is conducted like the marking sheet (ADI26) and how it is marked.
