Skid pan was great, unfortunately the facility for Staffordshire Police is being closed at the end of the year 2007, so it will be no more.  However the experience was fantastic, I only wish I had the opportunity to experience this when I was 17!  Highly recommended to any new driver, after all wouldn't you rather experience icy/slippy conditions under a controlled situation rather than on the road!

Rear wheel drive was great fun and was really easy to control, when we all got the hang of it (in2gear team!).  Front wheel drive was very helpful to understand but rather dull.  Finally we all tried our braking for size, cadence, brake + release, then ABS!  This was until Kelly decided to try coming onto the skid pan at 40mph rather than 30, apparently!

100% brilliant and worthwhile experience!

New Car (well sort of) again!  He's a 1.9TDi Elegance Skoda Fabia of course, and is very nice to drive! Heated seats kept me warm this morning when it was 1.5'C! brrrrrrr cold! MPG is good 50+ generally, so very pleased!  Duals fitted, cruise control and parking sensors all ok.....ready to go!

Been very busy , but enjoying getting a good few people through there tests the last few weeks.....well done guys and lasses you know who you are!  Attending South Staffordshire Driving Instructors Association on the first Thurs in every month last few months, which is very good to catch up with the industry.  Skid pan training next Tuesday, and went to the Regional MSA meeting at the end of last month, lots of interesting speakers!

Well its been a while! Sorry people, but then I have been very busy.  My training aids have seen to that, they have been selling quite well and are about to go live selling on the online shop at driver training today.

Apart from that they have been selling on ebay too, and quite well too! Thanks to Tim Manwaring for his input and feedback to the training aids (as well as Nigel Dawson).  I'm onto the second edition now, which has some minor but useful amendments.

The Fabia has 4500 miles on her now, bless, and is still going strong! MPG still the same, but thinking about it that is not too bad for a petrol instructors car! She's preformed well on recent trips to Manchester and Leeds, 43MPG on the one to Leeds so happy with that, and with the Air Con on too....which is VERY COLD BY THE WAY! LOL

The techniques discussed at the last DTT meeting were useful, and pupils have been liking them keeping us amused whilst learning too.....got to be good!

New Car great.  1000+ miles in first week and a half though! 35mpg average at the moment though hoping this will increase with time :)  Pupils love the car too, and is much nippier than I expected!

Two Pupils PASSED their theory test this week, so WELL DONE GUYS, great scores as well....

Wow what a fantastic weekend, met up with some instructors and friends from www.drivertrainingtoday.co.uk great meeting, social event really but some interesting stories, definitely passing some on to pupils!

As for some others, don't think I should!  Great feedback on the training aids guys so cheers for that!

Went to meet some mates in Manchester this weekend, definitely got some new interesting routes for Pass Plus, WHEN I get one!

Back to the grind now....... :)

Not all gone so well today, new car fantastic, but cannot drive it yet as insurance cover note not arrived at the dealer yet, so they cannot tax it....quite essential really!  Oh well duals fitted today, bit of a pain to do..but the fitter got there in the end!  cheers http://www.andydownham.co.uk/

I fitted my in car video system too....still got some tweaks to do there, but works for now! Lovely looking car, just needs to be on the road! Everything seems to have gone belly up today......I knew filling up at pump 13 this morning was a jinx! Oh well save the excitement of the new car for tomorrow!

New blog opened! Very excited today, new car on its way on Monday morning, and news came yesterday that I am going to be featured in the "Driving" magazine which goes to all driving instructors registered with the DIA!  www.drivertrainingtoday.co.uk

website has been interesting with my post regarding how bus stops are placed in stupid places!

Cover note arranged with insurance company today for new car, Skoda Fabia 1.2 12v Classic, with AC, CD Remote locking etc... in silver! Very exciting stuff, got to get dual controls sorted out for it, and get my car prepared too!  Here are some pictures taken yesterday of me posing for the article to be in the "Driving" magazine soon.....Watch this space!
